Best Phone Cards to Call Mexico

I just got back from my first business trip into Mexico. And man did I have a great time. Many times I really feel lucky that I have the privilege to work in other countries and meet great people. I’m a big food fanatic and everywhere I go I eat because I know anywhere else the food will never be the same. Anyways enough about my great time in Mexico lol!

So now that I’ve developed business contacts in Mexico I have to maintain it as well. So from the list of phone card companies I use I chose Nobelcom. I know, no big surprise there. What can I say, I know they’re reliable and after doing a price search and comparison Nobelcom has the best rates out of the ten different phone card companies I use. Here are the rates from the phone cards Nobelcom carries:

Before I explain which card to choose I just want to say Nobelcom lower call per minute rates for calling Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey. So I guess the phone card rates you see above are for calling Mexico in general. You can find more info here at Nobelcom phone cards to call Mexico. As you can see there are 4 different phone cards with different rates. So which one should you use? It all depends on how often you will be making calls. You see, Nobelcom charges maintenance fees for some of their phone cards. Now I know I always advocate phone cards with no fees. But maintenance fees can always be worked around, so that you can take advantage of the low call per minute rates. The maintenance fees of each card is listed below;

  • Hello Mexico – .99¢ weekly maintenance fee
  • Talk Mexico – .69¢ weekly maintenance fee
  • Call Mexico – .49¢ monthly fee
  • 1 Second Mexico – No monthly fee

Okay, this is how you choose which phone card to buy from Nobelcom and it’s really simple. If you know you’re going to be making a lot of calls within a short period of time then you should choose either Hello Mexico or Talk Mexico phone cards. Because both cards have weekly maintenance fees and if you use them up before the weeks up then you have taken advantage of the low rates and avoided the maintenance fee.

If you know you will be making a low volume of calls within a long period of time then choose Call Mexico or 1 Second Mexico because these cards give you plenty of time to use the cards without getting maintenance fees deducted from your card’s balance on a weekly basis.

One final note. All phone card companies charge different rates between calling a land line and calling a mobile number. Calling a mobile number incurs higher call per minute rates;
