Best Phone Card to Call Guatemala
One of my clients knew I review phone cards on the side and asked me which phone cards he should use to call his native country of Guatemala. Previously he bought his phone cards from gas stations and eventually found out that he wasn’t getting his minutes worth. After reading this blog he tells me he wish he read it earlier lol!
So I pulled out my handy list of reputable phone card companies on the Internet and just did a search for him. For calling Guatemala I found that Nobelcom has the best rates. Below is the screen shot I pulled from their website. The rates below are based on calls made from the Continental USA to a land line in Guatemala.

As you can see there are 4 phone card selections. Now most people jump on the first card “Hello Guatemala” because of the 5.4¢ per minute rate because it’s cheap. However, if you check the phone card details you will see that there is a .99¢ weekly maintenance fee. You can also see that cards with lower per minute rates have higher maintenance fees.
Normally I recommend to all my readers to avoid phone cards with fees. However, maintenance fees can be worked around. Let’s say you purchase the “Hello Guatemala” phone card and finished the phone card within the week. By doing that you have taken advantage of the low call per minute rate and successfully avoided the .99¢ maintenance fee. What I don’t recommend any one to buy are phone cards with carrier surcharge and connection fees. Luckily Nobelcom’s phone cards don’t have such silly fees.
Here is the rest of the maintenance fee info. Note: “1 Second Guatemala” card has no maintenance fees at all, which is what I would choose if I need to spread my calls through out a month or more.
